1970s

The first Tony Roma's opened in North Miami, Florida in 1972. The restaurant's signature baby back ribs became a house specialty.

1980s

Tony Roma's became the largest restaurant chain specializing in baby back ribs. The restaurant won the "Best Ribs in America" award in a national rib-eating contest.

1990s

Tony Roma's expanded into Asia, South America, and Central America. The restaurant also added two new barbecue sauces: Blue Ridge Smokies and Red Hots. 

In recent years, Tony Roma's has redesigned its model, modernized it, and lowered franchise costs. The restaurant is also exploring adding cauliflower ribs to its menu.
